XDAILY eXplained Daily – science for curious minds

Our other projects – AXTO, XAA and ULYAH, openly labelled as self-promotion

A quick disclosure before anything else: this page promotes our own work. XDAILY is published by the same people behind the three projects described here. The explainers on the rest of the site are about science alone, and they never mention these names.

AXTO: AI tools that respect where your data lives

If you enjoy understanding how technology works, you may appreciate how AXTO is designed. Its tools process video, documents and images on your own device instead of shipping them off to a remote server, which is both a privacy decision and an engineering one.

  • Clipper cuts long recordings, a lecture or a telescope time-lapse for example, into short subtitled clips, and the processing runs locally on your computer.
  • AI Studio shows the responses of several AI models next to each other, a handy way to see how differently they reason about the same question.
  • Privacy Vault masks names, addresses and account details in a file before an AI model ever sees it.

Online models are used with your own API key and AXTO merely forwards the request. Switch to local mode and the AI runs completely on your hardware, with nothing leaving the machine.

XAA: custom websites for schools, clubs and small labs

An astronomy club that wants an observing calendar, a science teacher who needs a course site, a small lab looking for a clean project page with bookings: XAA is a European studio that designs and builds websites, shops and booking systems to order. Payment follows milestones, so you only pay for parts you have already reviewed and tested. Ready-made templates are available for a faster start.

ULYAH: an open library of Islamic texts

ULYAH makes the Qur'an with translations and recitations, hadith collections and classical works available free of charge. We list it because it is part of the same family of projects, with no intention of persuading anybody.

What it means for XDAILY

Our topics, sources and conclusions are chosen for one reason only: helping you understand the world. Nothing on XDAILY is written to serve AXTO, XAA or ULYAH. If any of them is useful to you, we are glad; if not, the six fields of our observatory are waiting.
